[Released on 10th  Oct , 2008]

Recently, Shenzhen First Mile Communications Ltd (FirstMile) has shipped out in volume the new advanced triple play ONU to customers in Europe and Northern American. The new advanced triple play ONU has been designed with flexible fiber cable tray and has integrated new functionalities and features that include L3 routing, WiFi data link with computer termination , optional optical interface and backup battery for power interruption etc.

The new advanced triple play ONU is labeled with three series model as below:

²      OnAccess41x series: Advanced switch triple play ONU with single IP address, designed with fiber cable tray and optional backup battery.

²      OnAccess42x series: Advanced switch triple play ONU with dual IP address for data and VOIP each, designed with fiber cable tray and optional backup battery.

²      OnAccess43x series: Advanced router triple play ONU with single IP address and WIFI accessing, designed with fiber cable tray and optional backup battery.

The new advanced triple play ONU is designed to work with OnAccess2224S, OnAccess2224D  (Triple Play Multiplexed CATV Optical Ethernet Switch) or other compatible OLT. It provides an ideal solution for economical delivery of telephone, data and CATV analog signals or a combination of analog and digital channels, including HDTV broadcast, over single or dual single-mode fiber to the user¡¯s premises in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) applications. It integrates one 100Base-BX10 WAN port that supports demultiplexing of CATV optical signal and can be connected to OnAccess2224S, OnAccess2224D or other compatible OLT, one CATV coaxial-cable output port, four 10/100Base-TX LAN ports for direct connection of up to four computers, one WiFi access point with 54 Mbps data transmission rate in 2.4GHzISM band which is compatible with IEEE802.11b andIEEE802.11g, and two telephony ports to provide telephone services.

The ONU housing combines the fiber termination unit (FTU) and the active equipment (AE). The FTU is also a fiber cable tray, which is designed to be installed and mounted on wall, and the AE is installed on the tray. This combination allows the AE installation to be done at the same time when the FTU is installed or later on when the end user wants to activate services. The FTU provides broadband network builders with a solution for fast and easy fiber termination. The fiber can be brought into the FTU from 4 different directions, giving full flexibility during installation. The fiber and its connector are both protected over its lifetime from dust, dirt and physical damage, and the FTU makes it easy and fast to install the active equipment.
